Assignment 1
Change
|
|
The idea:
Create a piece about
change. Think of every possible interpretation and definition you can.
Any of them are acceptable. Feel free to let the definition transform
over the course of the project. I am hoping for an exploration that
bends the idea to be one in line with your own interests and artistic
practice.

Requirements:
Using one of the
Olympus Camedia E-10 cameras available, shoot at least 20 images (preferably
more). Burn all your images to 2 CD's (I will be collecting these).
For the final project you will need to have at least 5 inkjet
prints, 8x10 each. The critique will be on February 14th.

Helpful Links for
Beginning:
- Imaging
Resource (great all around nerdy consumer site - check out all of
it, but especially the parts I've linked to below)
- How
Big Can I Print It (part of Imaging Resource)
- Sharpening
(part of Imaging Resource)
- Photoshop
Beginners Tutorials (another great simple and nerdy site)
- Photoshop
User Guide for Beginners (geared to prepress and for the PC, but
still useful)
There are many
other useful sites that I am not linking to. If these are unsatisfactory
to you, try typing in "photoshop" and words like "beginners",
"basics", "tips", "tutorials", "lessons",
etc... into any search engine (I prefer Google)
and see what you get.

All assignments will
build upon each other. You may wish to "repurpose" materials
from earlier assignments to keep a cohesiveness to your projects throughout
the semester. Because of this you should work with images and ideas you
are highly interested in from the beginning.
